Cypress Circumnavigation

Cypress HeadJuly and August in the Northwest often provides the best fair weather the region has to offer.  Just as predictable as the weather are the summer crowds and long ferry lines.  For those not looking to spend their vacation waiting in line or jockeying for a parking space, we offer the Cypress Circumnavigation.  This wonderfully overlooked San Juan Island requires no ferry ride, has virtually no development and boasts stunning views of Mt. Baker and Haro Straight.  We start our paddle from Anacortes' convenient location, paddle through Guemus Channel and spend our first evening camped at Cypress Head.  The following day we paddle north stopping for lunch and an optional hike to Eagle Cliffs.  We spend our final night at beautiful Strawberry Island.

Location: Cypress Island, San Juan Islands, Skagit County, Washington. Approximately 3 miles northwest of Anacortes.

Difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate
