Tying the Surgeon's Knot
The Surgeon's Knot is used for tying tippet to leaders and is best used when diamaters of line vary greatly. This knot is quite quick and is basically an overhand knot with an extra wrap.
Step 1
Overlap two pieces of tippet in oposite directions.
Step 2
Tie an overhand knot using both strands by pulling the entire tippet end through the loop.
Step 3
Add a second wrap of the tippet end by passing it through the loop as you did in the second step, essentially creating an overhand knot with two wraps.
Step 4
Wet the knot then dress down by pulling equally on both strands. Trim and you're complete.
