Newsletter - November 2006

What's new with Anew

We would like to start this month's Newsletter by thanking everyone who has been with us for the past three years. We are looking forward to taking advantage of a little down time to develop more programs that help you in experiencing the great Northwest.

Keep the feedback coming!

We would like to thank all of you for the great feedback we have received in the first year of our monthly Newsletter.   If you have any ideas or things you would like to see added to the Newsletter, please let us know.

The first signs of winter

The first snow of the season fell in the Cascades last month, creating a surge of excitement throughout the ski & snowboard industry.   Many of us broke out the boards, brushed off the cobwebs and slathered on a new layer of wax knowing that winter is just around the corner!

Upcoming events

Not a whole lot..

It's the slow, rainy season here in the Northwest so we have decided to take this break in our choice outdoor activities and catch up on a little rest and relaxation in Mexico.   But don't fret, the snow will start falling soon and we will be back in those awe-inspiring mountains.   Adios. Hasta luego.

Kayaking Fiji

Jason Goldstein of Essex Explorations is coordinating a kayaking trip to Fiji this November.   If the sun drenched south Pacific sounds like a good way to beat those winter blues, give Jason a call, he would love to have you along.    More about kayaking Fiji

Notes from the Field

Wilderness First Responder & CPR Course

We (John and Adrienne) took part in a 10-day WFR & CPR course at the Environmental Learning Center near Deception Pass.   The course was taught by the Wilderness Medical Institute and focused on how to deal with medical situations in the backcountry.   We were quite fortunate to have two great instructors, Dan & Daniel who made taking the course a second time interesting, informative, practical and well worth the effort.

Experience Says

Escaping the November Blues

Anyone who has lived in the Northwest long enough knows that November can be a somewhat depressing month.   As the vibrant colors of fall fade away and the gloominess of the "rainy" season sets in, the list of excuses to stay at home and curl up for a movie marathon become easier to make.   Our goal at Anew Outdoors is to make sure you are experiencing all that the great Northwest has to offer, no matter what time of year it is.   So, while we take a breather to prepare for the upcoming year, we thought we would give you some ideas to avoid those November blues.
