Notes from the Field

Spring Wrap Up

If you have spent anytime outdoors in Washington this spring, you'll know we've seen a bit of everything when it comes to weather.   Mountain snow, 80+ degree heat, frosty nights, and heavy rains have all made an appearance while we reveled in the beauty of the outdoors.   We here at Anew would like to take this time to say thanks to everyone who joined us outdoors this spring.   Thanks for the memories.   If you're not one of these fortunate people we have to ask, "Why not?"

Experience Says

Perfection is in the eye of the S'more holder

As many of you know, June is a great time of year to gather family and friends around the campfire and brush up on those S'more skills.   Here are my thoughts...

  • If you're young and/or impatient, light that marshmallow on fire and have your very own Olympic torch.
  • If you're a perfectionist, spend all night browning just one marshmallow while pointing out how nice it looks.
  • If you're still hungry because you dropped your hot dog in the fire, skip the fire all together and build your S'more cold.
  • If you crave something new, try flavored gram crackers or new sorts of candy.
  • If you think of yourself as something of a S'more aficionado, set your gram cracker and chocolate next to the fire and let it warm.
  • If you're lazy, find someone younger (preferably one who isn't fond of torches) and trick him or her into doing your dirty work for you.

Whichever way you choose, I'm sure you'll find perfection.
