What's new with Anew

Its Summer

Our kayak season is in full swing as the summer heats up and the daylight fades.  As I'm sure most of you know, summer is short but sweet in the Northwest and if you like outdoor activities bathed in warm summer sun, the time is now.  We still have a few July dates available, see below for details. See you on the Puget Sound.

Notes from the Field

John's Back

John has returned from nearly 3 weeks of river trips in Oregon and Idaho.   He experienced everything from high water, class 5 rafting to mellow floating at blistering temps, teasing small mouth bass along the way.   He has quite a few stories, so make sure he tells you at least one the next time you see him.

Independence Day Paddle

Our July 4 th Independence Day Paddle was a great success this year.   Comfortable weather, light winds, fireworks and an amazing display of lightning over the Seattle skyline combined to provide us with another great trip.   Don't miss this one next year.

Experience Says

5 Tips to Make Your Next Kayak Trip Even Better

  1. Wear Sunscreen - This doesn't just apply to sunny days, remember to put it on even when it is overcast.   Also make sure to put it on to either long before you grab your paddle or use a handy spray instead of lotion.

  2. Protect Your Hands - If you haven't been paddling much, you can protect you hands from blisters with biking gloves.

  3. Wear Polarized Sunglasses - Polarized lenses reduce glare off water and relax your eyes.

  4. Line Important Dry Bags With Plastic - Make sure your sleeping bag stays dry by lining your dry bag with a plastic bag, then stuff your sleeping bag.   This makes it essential to "burp" the air out of the plastic bag first.

  5. Dry Bag Pillow - Use your clothing dry bag as a pillow by filling it with clothing and extra air then covering it with your cozy fleece jacket.
