Upcoming events

Scottish Lakes High Camp Trip

Our first winter multi-day excursion will be taking place this month.   We will be heading to the backcountry cabins of Scottish Lakes for four days of good food, wood-fired hot tubs, and plenty of ski touring.   We'll be sure to post a trip report upon our return.

Avalanche Clinic

John and Adrienne will be helping out with a Steven's Pass Ski Area Avalanche Clinic on January 14th-15th. Everyone who is interested in brushing up on their avalanche skills are welcome.

Notes from the Field

Jonathan Returns

Jonathan Adams has just returned from 6 weeks in Nepal and 3 weeks of climbing limestone off Thailand's beaches.   His trip included trekking the Annapurna circuit in 20 days and crossing over the 5,416 Meter (17,000 foot) Thorong-LA Pass (pictured to the right.)   Then for some rest and relaxation Jonathan spent 3 weeks sport climbing on the Tonsi Pranang Peninsula in southeast Thailand.   As soon as we can get Jon to take a break from skiing and review his 1,000 plus pictures, we will schedule a slide show.

Experience Says

Seize the Day!

The holidays provide us with an opportunity to gather with friends and family and exchange stories about where we have been and what we are currently up to.   A recent visit with John's grandmother reminded us that life is short and it is up to us to take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way.   We sat while she told us stories of skiing at Paradise in Mt Rainier National Park and ice skating on Green Lake.   Those days are behind her now, however the same sparkle that twinkled in her eyes in her younger years resurfaced as she recounted her tales.

As the new year begins, many of us are pledging to eat better, maybe lose a few pounds, or get on that workout routine.   But let's not forget to live life to the fullest, try something new, push our limits, or simply spend more time with those we love.   Life is short, get out and make some memories of your own!
