What's New with Anew
The transitional time of year is upon us once again. As the last of fall's brightly colored leaves drops lazily to the ground, it is time to start preparing for old man winter. And with a couple of early season snowstorms already this year, it's hard not to think that ski season is right around the corner!
Winding Down
As the weather makes its transition, we too are making a transition from the field to the office. As we prepare for the 2008 season, we will be sending out the Newsletter on an every-other-month basis. While the newsletter may not be as frequent, it's content will still provide ways in which to inspire, educate, and inform you on ways to get out no matter what time of year it is in the Great Northwest.

Notes from the Field
Wenatchee River Steelhead Fishing
After 10 years of no steelhead fishing on the Wenatchee River, the stars have finally aligned. On Monday October 22 nd hordes of hopeful anglers bombarded every nook and cranny those weary and stubborn sea run trout tried hide in. Solid numbers are hard to come by, but rumors have it 80+ anglers and 6 boats were counted in not much more than a mile just outside of Leavenworth. With the huge number of anglers, a goal to remove 500 hatchery steelhead, and an incidental kill number of 15 native steelhead, set by Washington State Fish and Wildlife, you would expect the season to only last a few days. Well, not so. The steelheads are winning and at the pace fish are being taken the season could last well into winter. |

Experience Says
Tune them now!
Year after year ski season has a way of sneaking up on us. The scramble often begins in November, with the forecast calling for the first series of big winter storms to roll through. Minutes later the phone will not stop ringing at your local ski shop as everyone wants to know it they are ready to tune skis for the year. The answer is, "Yes, we've been tuning skis for over a month. If you bring them in now we can have them ready for you in, say, hmm, ten days...." "Ten days," you blurt out. "The hill could open in four." Well now you're stuck. Do you want those skis tuned and bindings checked at the start of the season or will you suffer through the first couple of days with no wax, dull edges, and that little voice in your head telling you to have your bindings checked? Well we are here to overt this disaster! Tune them now. Run, don't walk, to your trusted local shop and get those skis in shape. See you on the slopes.
