Kayak Instruction and Classes

Anew Outdoors has partnered with Essex Explorations, the leader in northwest kayak instruction, to offer individuals the opportunity to develop personal skills in the art and science of kayaking. Jointly, we offer kayaking classes in a variety of Washington locations in and around the Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Anacortes, and Bellingham areas. Instructional classes are offered on a private basis with custom dates for as few as one individual.

Our Instructors are certified by organizations like the American Canoe Associations (ACA) and the British Canoe Union (BCU), and offer a variety of learning opportunities.

Why train with a certified Instructor? First of all, it signifies a passion for the sport! Certification is neither easy nor cheap...you have to be passionate about the sport to achieve an Instructors rating. Secondly, the sport of kayaking has evolved, like any other sport, over the years and techniques have evolved as well. To maintain certification, instructors have to continually re-cert, learning the latest teaching skills and paddling techniques.
